Who Knew-P!NK
You took my hand, you showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh, that's right
I took your words, and I believed
In everything you said to me
Yeah, huh, that's right
If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong
I know better 'cause you said forever, and ever
Who knew?
Remember when we were such fools
And so convinced and just too cool
Oh no, no, no
I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you friend
I'd give anything
When someone said count your blessings now
'Fore they're long gone
I guess I just didn't know how
I was all wrong
They knew better, still you said forever, and ever
Who knew?
Yeah, yeah
I'll keep you locked in my head until we meet again
Until we, until we meet again
And I won't forget you, my friend
What happened?
If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
'Cause they're all wrong and
That last kiss
I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes
It harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep
Your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling
Who knew?
My darling
My darling
Who knew?
My darling
I miss you
My darling
Who knew?
Who knew?
Uh huh, that's right
I took your words, and I believed

So, I've been in a P!NK mood lately because I did just see her in concert Saturday night. I thought nothing could beat the first time I saw her in Melbourne, Australia but nope, I was wrong. First there were the seats. Club level and right there at the stage. Couldn't have been better. She puts on quite a show. She played my song-Who Knew. That's always going to be my main song although I personally connect with a lot of others.
Then there is the fact that her best friend is my favorite musician of all time who happens to talk about her all the time. She shows up at his shows and sings with him or she is just there. She's a very real person. He's been in my life since my first year of grad school. I was lucky enough that he just came to ATL a month ago and decided to play a show. I needed that although I sit there teary-eyed at more of his shows than not. He can get you. He writes songs just for me. LOL Maybe because his birthday is the same as mine. We're so much alike. Our dads died a year apart, both of cancer. He put my dad's story and picture in his video, Father's Day, that he wrote after his dad died. THAT meant everything in the world to me that he put my dad in his video. Of course, I can't really listen to that song. Only watching the video after it came out was the only time I could take it since my dad was in it. That's okay.....he can't even sing it in concert. He sang it one tour....in LA at the residence he did for a whole week at The Masonic Lodge in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Best place he ever played probably but every night he had them turn the lights on the stage off and all you heard was his voice in the dark. I don't think anyone in there had a dry eye, including him.
So now that I'm moving, LA will probably be the only place I leave my new home for, fly 4 1/2 hours, and see some of my best friends in LA that are like family to me and see him play as well.
I just don't see myself coming back to Georgia ever. I will miss his shows here because he makes them a little bit more special than shows other places.
Right now I'm loving For Now from the new album the most, then What About Us, and then Beautiful Trauma from P!NK's new album.
Guess Beautiful Trauma could have described my life except I worked hard to turn it around and the trauma will never fully leave but I still go to therapy. I've learned to deal with things I never thought I ever would. Want to get to know yourself better than you ever thought was possible? Have your therapist ask you what the first thing you ever remember was and then spend six months going through every thing that ever happened to you. Have her ask you, "And you thought that was okay that person did that?". Have the worst anger and hatred come to the surface and deal with THAT. Come to terms with it even though what is left is still the sad traumatic feelings that it leaves you with that resurface from time to time.
How this blog moved from the P!NK show to that, I just don't know except I think her music and my favorite musician's music play such a huge part in my life that that is where that went. Can't even explain it but I'm not the only one. I've got my tribe of people that feel the same about both of them.
Now here comes the beautiful part because now I get that. I've fought for it and I'm going to have the beautiful.
